Physically, Remy stands 6'2", and weighs 179 lbs, giving him a muscled, but lithe physique. He keeps his brown hair longer on top, but trimmed so as to go between casual and professional quickly, and he almost always keeps to have a five o'clock shadow. For the most part, he seems completely human, save for his one physical mutation: the sclera of his eyes have been black and his pupils red since birth. Otherwise his features are sharp, angular, and distinct. He's just starting to develop laugh lines around his eyes but he'd never let that hold him back. His style of dress varies, but he knows a good suit when he sees it, and prefers cut-off shorts and t-shirts at home.

(This history is valid up to the section titled "Back to the World of Thieves")
↠ Personality: Words that describe Gambit: Show-off, sneaky, under-handed. You only know Gambit if Gambit wants you to. To most people, Gambit comes across as a flippant, sarcastic rebel who rarely thinks about anyone but himself, and that’s exactly what he wants you to think. If you’re busy thinking he’s up to no good and just in it for Remy, they don’t tend to want you around, which leaves him free to assist from the background where no one would think to look for him.
As much as he prefers a more subtle approach to most situations, Remy loves the limelight. When performing any action, be it battle, a date, or washing the car, his first focus is doing it with style. Ever the showman, Gambit is always quick with a snide comment, flourish, and twirl of his bo-staff. Remy leBeau isn’t a thief because it’s a great way to make money, which it is and he knows it. He’s a thief, and the best damn thief in New Orleans, thank you very much, because he can make it look good. Remy has the sort of cocky swagger and irrepressible self-confidence that makes men hate him and most woman fall at his feet.
Remy will always be a flirt, but his heart will forever belong to Rogue. She captured his full attention as soon as he laid eyes on her, and he’s spent every waking moment sense trying to be the man he thinks she deserves. Sometimes he falters, and sometimes his past has come to light to her in very bad ways that have pushed her away from him, but he still fights. Earning the right to her love has become his main purpose in life, and he would wait for her to the ends of every Earth they've ever visited, as well as any they haven’t seen yet.
He differs from the other x-men in many ways. He’s always been somewhat of an outcast among them because of differences of opinion. He sees the good in people’s actions, whether part of the team or no, whereas most of them think that events and happenings should stay with the team. He gained a sense of family, albeit dysfunctional, from his being raised by the Thieves’ Guild, and that proved to him that humans could, in fact, accept a mutant into their ranks, welcome them as one of their own. This leaves him much more open-minded to outsiders than most of his teammates, and leads to quite a bit of contention among them as well. That coupled with the fact that Remy is willing to steal items and information to accomplish his goals leads to any of the x-men mistrusting him, even his precious Rogue, though she understands his reasons much more intimately than any of the others, and is more willing to accept his methods.
His methods are what have always made him a questionable ally to the x-team. As a whole, Team X stand for equality, freedom, and righteousness. For the most part, Remy agrees with their goals, but his childhood and the harsh truths it instilled in him have taught him that, to attain ones ends, sometimes, subtly and subterfuge are required. He knows that the altruistic way is not always the best way, and that the most rewarding effects are often attained by the most illicit of processes. In essence, Remy understands that the end will justify the means. That and his secrecy lead to their mistrust. The secret to any successful sabotage is to keep your adversary guessing. When those adversaries have several powerful telepaths on the payroll, it’s useful to keep the information in as few heads as possible. He doesn’t usually share the information with anyone because, due to the very nature of his power, his mind is very difficult to read, or even locate. For the most part, the information is safe with him. He knows that, and doesn’t trust the others not to try to stop him. He’s given them plenty of reasons to try, after all. Besides, once a thief, always a thief.
Recently, Remy has chosen the side of levity rather than violence in the world of mutants and humans, becoming a school teacher at Logan's revived "School for the gifted", in memory of Professor Xavier and Jean Grey. He'll be coming in to the game with a lot of conflict over his involvement, and who he's become. Raised a thief, a denizen of the darker sides of the street and no stranger to underhanded methods, he feels out of his depth as a teacher at a school, being a mentor to children, and he's reached a time in his life where he's not sure where he's come from, where he's going, or even if he feels like himself anymore.
↠ Powers / Abilities:
Potential/Kinetic Energy manipulation;
"Charging" Objects - Remy can tap into the potential energy contained within objects and convert it to kinetic energy, often with explosive results. The resulting explosion is dependent upon how much Remy amps up the charge, and the size of the object being charged. He's been shown to charge objects as large as several two ton slabs of stone. He can also cause objects to explode on a delay, or even release the charge in explosive energy bursts without damaging the charged object.
Enhanced Speed/Agility - His control over potential/kinetic energy extends to his own anatomy, giving him slightly enhanced speed and agility. While he can, on average, outrun the average human, it's only a few times faster and more agile.
"Static" in the mind - Because the energy in his mind is always more active, it creates what telepaths have described as static when they try to read his thoughts. While his mind can still be read, it's uncomfortable, and can be likened to watching a television with a bad connection.
Thief Skills;
Distraction/Subtlety skills - From an early age, Remy was trained by his father and the other thieves in the thieves guild in the arts of persuasion, slight of hand, and grifting.
Security/B&E - On told of up close and personal thieving, Remy knows the ins and outs of most security systems, or is at least able to figure them out, this includes high security vaults. He also uses his enhanced speed and agility to dodge things, like lasers.
↠ Languages: English, French, Russian, some Spanish, some Genoshan (because that's a real place okay)
↠ Inventory: Mildly reinforced, black form-fitting jumpsuit; Light brown leather duster with many pockets which contain the following: wallet (with no identification), an extendable rod of steel alloy that extends to roughly 6 feet in a hidden pocket in the coat, two unopened decks of ordinary playing cards, 1 half-depleted deck of playing cards, a few marbles, a flat piece of metal about the size of a credit card, an iPhone 5 in black on silent with vibrate disabled, a set of earbuds to compliment said iPhone
↠ Reason for Playing This Character: Gambit is an adrenaline junkie, and, as such, has a habit of leaping before he looks and getting himself (and others around him by proxy) into a lot of dangerous situations. He often allows his indulgences to make decisions for him, which leads to some collateral damage, and his "it seemed like a good idea at the time" can lead to some interesting situations for others, too. More than anything, I enjoy how multi-faceted Remy is, as he alternates between wearing the hat of playboy, thief, King of Thieves, teacher, superhero, and back again.
↠ What is Your Character's Sin?: Gluttony; Gambit is a creature of pleasure, normally through thrills, and has been known to get into a lot of trouble just to "scratch an itch" so to speak.
SAMPLES
↠ First Person:
[The video clicks on to show Remy reclined at a table, using some sort of stand so as not to require holding the phone, and idly shuffling a deck of cards.]
Bonjour, meis amis. In a place like dis, surrounded on all sides by darkness, demons, quite literally at times, an' the constant idea dat dis ain' Kansas and we're all outta ruby slippers, it pays take have a bit o' fun every now and den, non? Now, I know dis fair city ain' wantin' for gamblin' establishments, but I ain' lookin' ta host anything formal. Jus' a nice, friendly game o' five card stud over some beers, my place. Anybody interested?
↠ Third Person: It was going to be a simple job, reminded himself. Just one simple job, a means to an end, a way to see the inside of the Duke's palace before the X-Men, Logan's X-Men that was, had to make an official appearance. It was recon. Right? Duke just so happened to be in possession of one of the finest collections of unpolished, raw diamond in the Western world didn't mean anything. That his collection was supposedly protected by one of the most sophisticated security systems money could by was in no way a reason for Gambit to volunteer for this particular trip.
And yet, here he was, suiting up in a fancy blazer and a tie, smoothing back his hair after volunteering to attended the Duke's little shindig, a private showing of some of the more known items in his collection, as Logan's representative before the more public fundraiser the man was hosting next week. Logan wanted to know what the Duke was really up to, what sort of ties to other governments he might possess. Their fearless leader would get his information, sure. Nobody said he couldn't take an unsolicited peek at the rest of the Duke's collection, now did they? No, and nobody needed to get hurt, either.
He pulled the tie secure against his neck and slid into a nice overcoat to ward off the waning February chill on New York City before stepping out to his waiting cab. Just a little peek, Remy, get a look at the shinies.
What was the worst that could happen?
